Before the work starts
When a Tacoma plumbing job needs a permit
Some small plumbing repairs in Tacoma need no permit. Once pipe has to be replaced or moved, the City's fee table applies.
Work that does not need a residential permit
- Stopping leaks in drains, water, soil, waste or vent pipe, unless concealed pipe must be replaced. Replacing concealed pipe is new work and needs a permit. (City of Tacoma)
- Clearing stoppages, or repairing leaks in pipes, valves or fixtures, and removing and reinstalling water closets, when the repair does not replace or rearrange valves, pipes or fixtures. (City of Tacoma)
